Bazaars and Road Pics

We have a little time before our last day of sightseeing in Udaipur, Rajasthan so I thought we might give you more pics of our favorite non-monument attractions here: bazaars and thr journey itself.  There is so much action (chaos) that you almost get tired from looking intently.  It is a sensory feast that pictures can't convey, with all the sounds, smells, emotions (curiosity, wonder, panic sometimes) that add to the visual impact.

In the middle of a bazaar this bull was snoozing, or is it a bovine yoga position? The bulls here seem very tame, no aggression, so maybe it is yoga.

Some stalls have big piles of 2nd hand clothes and the owner just sits in the middle of the pile.  Some customers climb over the pile to look for what they want.

The open bags of spices raise some questions on sanitation but the aroma is great.  You know when you are getting close to the spice section of the bazaar.

The omlette man is famous, featured on Lonely Planet, Tripadvisor, etc.  You can see he doesn't worry about refrigerating his eggs.  He sells thousands a day at under $2.00 each.  Oh yeh, he also books camel safaris, changes money and other jobs.

More lentils of various colors and the pots to cook them.

This is one trip I am delighted that I am not driving.  Besides the safety issue there are so many things to see.  Many places manufacture bricks by the side of the road.  You see the long rows of bricks that they have formed in hand molds and then the conical kilns that are used to fire them.  No tall smokestacks like we saw in other areas.

It's clear that women do most of the work here.  Carrying...

Women digging ditches, yes, and in their saris.

Goats and their herders are always in the roads.  The goats are so cute compared to some of the cattle.

When you stop for any period of time (railroad crossing, traffic, etc.) kids come up and beg.  You need to keep the windows up.

Monkeys populate the roads also.  They look at the whizzing cars and seem to wonder "What's the rush?"

The median of the express way is populated with cows, goats, and people walking.

Many of the trucks are highly decorated.

All have the "Horn Please" on the back.

And when you get to the hotel they tell you very politely where to get off.
